HAPPY NEW YEAR 2015 everyone and to kick start a whole year of blogging off, I present
the Secret Cravings Publishing 4th Anniversary Blog Hop.
Anniversaries and birthdays are celebrated in my home with a lot of enthusiasm. There are five of us plus the two cats. We have two birthdays in February, one in May, anniversary and birthday in August, finishing off with hubby's birthday in September. So come Boxing day a list is handed to me from my daughter with her ideas of what she would like, closely followed by her brother, and he just rattles a list of what Father Christmas forgot to give him. I really cannot for the life of me remember what they both wanted now.
We have a set thing that we do for the kids. It involves a present, cake, meal of their choice and some sort of outing. Normally a trip to the cinema or bowling. When it comes to us adults, well there we are treading in uncharted waters.
Valentines day in our home is a bit of a doozy. Whereas most women are wined and dined and given roses and chocolates, nine years ago I spent the day in agony, ending up almost giving birth to my daughter in the front seat of a Vauxhall Astra. It was only through sheer determination I managed to get inside the hospital before she made her appearance just minutes later. What a way to spend the most romantic day of the year. However, I am glad she did, because she shares her birthday with her father as it was the day his parents brought him home to live with them from the orphanage.
Anniversaries can also be sad as well as happy. For me April 12th is a particularly poignant day, as it not only is my father's birthday but also the anniversary of the day he lost his life in a lorry accident in 1983. I was eleven at the time, and I still mark that day with my husband buying a bouquet of flowers.
April 13th this year will mark two years since I signed my contract with Secret Cravings Publishing for The MisAdventures of Pann Haggerty. 2015 will see Viva Pann Vegas, The MisAdventures of Pann Haggerty Book 2 published, and as my prize I will give away a copy of Pann Haggerty Book 1, Norty or Nice and a copy of Viva when it is released.
All you need to do is leave a comment describing your favourite birthday/anniversary memory, and I will ask my daughter to pick a winner.

Hi Manda I'm just popping in to wish everyone involved in this hop all the best. While it is not at all exciting or pretty the best present I received was a back massager which is still in constant use :-) :-) :-) hahaha. Bet that surprised you!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite present is my kindle paperwhite. I'm never without it.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite gift was from my children, where they had filled a large picture frame full of my favourite pictures of my family! I just love looking at it!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift was my writing table for my tablet. Don't enter me, I have all your books :)
ReplyDeleteJust hopping by to say "Hi!"
ReplyDeleteEvery year on my birthday, which is two days after Christmas, I fix a turkey with all the trimmings and of course peanut butter pie ( my favorite!). Then everybody in the family (yes, even the in-laws!) comes over and eats. Later my hubby and my son's watch a new season of Supernatural. My boys get me a new DVD set each year! Thanks for the great hop! Rebeccaray72@windstream.net
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing! Just hopping through but my husband's birthday is Dec 26th. He confided while we were dating that he was usually forgotten on his birthday. For 30+ years I've made sure he's had a family party with a caramel cake (his favorite) and presents not wrapped in Christmas paper.
ReplyDeleteWhat a Valentine's Day story--love it. Love your Pann Haggerty books as well. Happy anniversary SCP!
ReplyDeleteJust hopping by to say hello.
ReplyDeleteStopping by to say hello to all my fellow SCP authors.

Just dropping by to support my fellow blog hop participants. Congrats on your SCP success. Fabulous post! I have many treasured memories of birthdays and anniversaries with my beloved husband. My birthday is in mid December, then Christmas, then our anniversary on Dec. 28, then his birthday in mid January. Consequently, we had a zany month of happy celebrations each year. I remember one anniversary where he wined and dined me at a hotel set up in English style with pictures of monarchs and lovely gilded decor. We both enjoyed that night.
ReplyDeleteJust dropping by to say hi. Happy Birthday, SCP!
ReplyDeleteGlad to celebrate this anniversary with you!
ReplyDeleteMy mom had made me a Snow White birthday cake when I was 8. It was a basic chocolate cake with white frosting and plastic Snow White and Dwarfs on the top. She kept those plastic characters and made me a duplicate cake for my 18th birthday. I still have Snow White and the Dwarfs 35 years later.
