Welcome to Hump Day Hook Kook's style.

 

Today my hook comes from my novel Without Saying A Word.  In this scene, Rhean confesses to Laura something that she would NEVER have guessed.

 

“Laura, there is something I need to say, and for me to tell you this, well, it's very difficult. But I need to be straight with you.”

Laura shook her body, and stepped away from him with a frown on her face.

“You are going to tell me you are gay,” she blurted out wildly, pre-empting his speech.

“I had a feeling this was coming. How could you do this to me now? Well, this is going to make life incredibly awkward for us.” She wrung her hands in despair and humiliation.

Rhean pulled her back into his arms, holding her tight despite her struggles

“What on earth are you talking about? I'm not gay—far, far from it. Would I kiss you like this if I was interested in men?” His mouth crushed hers, claiming her as his own, branding her.

So what is it you have to tell me then?” she asked, still reeling from the dominance of his kiss.

“That I have never made love to anyone.” His voice was calm, his gaze steady as his cheeks flushed crimson.

“Let me get this straight. You mean you have never had sex? That you are a...?” Laura's voice trailed off and she was at a loss for words. It was rather a bizarre statement to have made—especially in the gallery with its echoing atmosphere. Anyone could have heard, and especially the staff.

That he trusted her enough to tell her a very intimate secret was flattering, but Laura now regarded Rhean in a whole new light.

“Not at all, and yes, I am a virgin; a 34-year-old virgin.”

Hump Day Hook

It's that time of the week again....Hump Day Hook.

I thought I would write how Rhean felt when he saw Laura. 

Her eyes caught Rhean's attention at first.  A turbulent grey colour, tinged with sadness and misery.  He waved at the woman as she struggled to put the key in the door.  For an instant, their eyes clashed.  He smiled at her, sending out an unspoken message of friendship.  As the woman lifted the corners of her mouth ever so slightly, her haunted expression lifted, and he saw the beauty within her begin to emerge.  Rhean nodded his head towards her as he opened his own front door.  Leaning back against the solid wood, he brought his hand up to his chest.  His heart pounded fiercely, his stomach in knots.  So this was love, he thought trying to catch his breath.  Fanbloodytastic.

Welcome to my first Hump Day Hook blog post. 

Here's my snippet from my book Without Saying A Word. 

The caress was Rhean’s undoing. He speared his fingers in Laura’s hair, pulling her mouth up to his. He plundered her mouth with all the pent-up passion he felt for her. Thrilled with her response to him, he stroked her tongue with his. Laura moaned out loud as Rhean’s hand moved upward to her breast, gently pinching the hardened nipple.
